You need to backup your website.  Accidents happen.  Mistakes happens.  Web hosting companies go out of business.  Like the classic saving goes, it is not “if”, it is “when”.

There are a number of ways to backup your carpenter website.  The first is to see if your web hosting company provides a daily backup of your website.

The second way, if you are using WordPress, is to find a backup plug-in.  I like BackWPup.

The third way is manually.  You can copy over all the files that make up your website using FTP.  You will also need to make a backup of database if your website is using WordPress.

Once you have the files, it is important to make a copy that isn’t stored on your web hosting account.  If something happens, you might not have access to the backup files.  It is fine to store your website backup on your computer since that is a second copy.

If you really have to good, have a backup of your backup.  This could be in the form of and external hard drive or some cloud file storage system like OneDrive or Google Drive.

In summary, a backup of your carpenter website provides peace of mind that you can get your website running again if there are issues.
